SECTA NEWS AND EVENTS
NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2011
The nights
have now well and truly drawn in, Halloween and bonfire night gone, as we head
swiftly towards Christmas.
This has
been a busy week socially for yours truly.
Monday the 7th
was A night of Love at Trawlers on the Quay. To raise money for the Nick Love
Foundation, this will be an annual award for the most promising young chef in
our area. The place was packed to bursting point, so many of our well known
local chefs and great to see Mark Napper, Nicks business partner. Nick would
have loved it. He gave a great deal of time and worked hard as a SECTA
committee member, he will be remembered with affection, and missed as a
colleague and dear friend.
Wednesday 9th
was the annual Visit Cornwall awards ceremony at St Mellion Golf Club. Good to
see so many winners from our area, including some SECTA members.
Trawlers gold, Cotehele gold, Dolbeare Park bronze, Talland Bay bronze,
Looe TIC bronze.
St Mellion Hotel gold, Old
Lanwarnick, Duloe gold, Kitchen Tea Room Polperro - bronze, Pentillie Castle
gold, and Port Eliot special award
It was a great evening, enjoyed by
all and hosted by a rather inebriated Sue Perkins
On Friday 11th myself and
Linda Brown will be attending a Best of Bodmin Moor evening at Carnglaze
caverns to promote both Green Acorn and Quality in Cornwall. After laying the SECTA wreath at
the cenotaph on Sunday morning I shall be off for a weeks break
Once again the New Years Eve firework
display is under threat unless another £2500 can be raised. If you feel you can
help on the night or wish to make a donation email looefireworks@gmail.com or cheques made payable to Looe Festivals, can be left at
Looe TIC or the Enterprise
centre
Your committee look forward to seeing
you at the next networking meeting at 12 midday on Thursday 24th
November at the Hannafore Point Hotel.
There will be an interesting talk on
health and safety by Allan Clare of AWC training. We will also give you an
update on how QIC is going and answer any questions you have on this inspection
scheme.
Make a note in your diary for
Thursday 26th January - SECTA AGM
